| Italian Village Italian Village is an historic district located in the near north side of Columbus adjacent to the central business district. The area is bounded by Interstate Route 670 on the south, Fifth Avenue on the north, North High Street on the west, and the Conrail railroad tracks to the east. The Italian Village area was one of Columbus' first suburbs, annexed to the city of Columbus in 1862. In the early 1970s, residents of Italian Village took action against the deteriorating physical condition of the area and the threat of having more and more historic buildings demolished. Residents and property owners, who felt a sense of community and had visions of an improved neighborhood, formed the Italian Village Society in 1972. | Harrison West Society A five-square block area along the Olentangy River, Harrison West is the western part of the Near Northside Historic District and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. Highlights of the neighborhood include two small parks and a public art project called the Side by Side. The Olentangy River runs through the neighborhood providing access to the bike path with stretches from downtown to Bethel Rd. | Topiary Garden corner of E. Town St. and Washington Ave. in downtown Columbus, is the site of a unique arts project. Georges Seurat's Famous post impressionist painting, A Sunday On The Island Of La Grande Jatte, is created in topiary. It is the only topiary interpretation of a painting in existence. This "landscape of a painting of a landscape" consists of 54 topiary people, eight boats, three dogs, a monkey, a cat and a real pond.
