The Ohio Statehouse's "tremendous structural power presents a quality many state capitols do not have. This building does not mimic. It is neither a sham temple, nor a gilded opera house. It is a rich expression of the Greek-Revival that suits the national Statehouse brand of public architecture in a unique way. Sharing in these aesthetic qualities are only a few other state capitols..."

It’s a place and time where you can kick back for a few hours or three full days, soaking up the vibe of an enviable exercise in participatory democracy. Volunteer committees work for most of each year to attend to the thousand details involved in making this annual event come true: organize vendors, seek out and schedule bands, arrange permits, organize activities for children, collect ads, produce a program, and contract for a range of services ranging from safety and sanitation to utilities and sound. And this isn’t half of it. It’s a big job, but to celebrate the ideals that shaped the first ComFest in 1972, it’s worth it.

What does COSI stand for? COSI began as the Center Of Science and Industry. However, now COSI simply means good science and fun for all to discover. With expanding outreach initiatives, COSI is no longer contained in one "center." It is our brand, our name, our philosophy! COSI Columbus is one of the most respected science centers in the nation, serving 18 million visitors since 1964. COSI is one of the most visited attractions in Franklin county, Ohio, and its annual attendance is among the highest in the country for similar size markets.

Joe Theibert, a disorganizer and the unofficial starter of the parade, described Doo Dah as the greatest event in Western Civilization. "It's sarcasm at its finest."
Theibert said there are few rules for parade participants, though he asks that entrants not embarrass their families by, say, appearing naked. And he once had to kick out a glad-handling politician who was taking himself a little too seriously (politicians must wear funny hats). Commercial pitches are a no-no at the non-profit, volunteer-driven event. Racism and cruelty are also forbidden. A recent float featuring "honest attorneys"--the float was empty--should clue you into Doo Dah's tongue-in-cheek humor.
